Mosquitoes are known to spread several diseases such as malaria, West Nile and Zika viruses, so what about Corona virus?
Mosquitoes have been known to spread several diseases such as malaria, West Nile and Zika viruses. This is what then makes many people wonder whether it also applies to the spread of the new Corona virus?
"Until now there has been no information or evidence that show that new corona viruses can be transmitted by mosquitoes," said the WHO as reported by Alarabiya on Thursday (4/23/2020).
WHO explained that the new Covid-19 corona virus is a respiratory virus that spreads mainly through droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes. This virus is also transmitted through saliva droplets or discharge from the nose.
Mosquitoes cannot transmit the disease because the Corona Covid-19 virus does not circulate much in the blood and is more dominant in the lungs and respiratory tract.
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says that at present, the CDC does not have data to state that this new coronavirus or other similar coronavirus is spread by mosquitoes or fleas.
The main way COVID-19 is spread is from person to person.therefore some ways to avoid the disease are by washing hands regularly, keeping a social distance, avoiding touching eyes, nose and mouth, to doing clean breathing.
All of that until now believed to be able to prevent the virus that is often deadly. Thus, although, mosquito bites may be a nuisance, at least they will not infect you with a coronavirus that has infected more than 2.47 million people worldwide and claimed more lives169,000.
